Privacy notice
Short version: MindTimbre analyses your voice on your iPhone and keeps your recordings there. Cloud sync is optional and off by default. We don't run adverts or tracking.
What the app collects
- Recordings and analysis results are stored on your iPhone. They leave it only if you export them, send them to us, or turn on cloud sync.
- No account needed. The app doesn't ask you to sign up. The name it greets you by, your measured voice range, your voice type and any pitch target are kept only on your iPhone. We never ask for your age or gender. Accounts will arrive with cloud features in 2027: they'll hold only your name, the name you'd like us to use and your email, and you'll confirm you're 13 or over. Deleting an account will remove it from the MindTimbre server immediately.
- Live session feedback (your rating, how you felt and your comments) is stored on your iPhone with the session. MindTimbre never works out your mood from your voice.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We see that a subscription is active, not your name or payment details.
- Cloud sync (optional, planned). Off until you turn it on. When it's on, your data is split between two systems that are kept apart, both encrypted in transit and at rest.
- MindTimbre server. Holds your name, email address, account and subscription status; your voice prints, peaks and Pattern Lab results; your voice recordings, only if you choose to include audio; the start and stop times of tones you play; which practitioners you've shared with; and the link between your account and your Mindstreams session IDs. A voice recording can identify its speaker, which is why including audio is a separate choice.
- Mindstreams (body signals only). If you use a device such as a brainwave headset, its signals are stored by Mindstreams for us as a data processor: brainwaves, and heart rate or skin conductance where the device records them. Mindstreams never receives sound data. These signals are kept under random IDs, with no name, email or account details, so it can't be traced back to you without access to both the MindTimbre server and the Mindstreams store.
- Deleting cloud data. Tapping Delete cloud data in the app immediately deletes your data from the MindTimbre server and Mindstreams. You can also ask us to delete it using the contact form, choosing “Privacy or data request”. Where both systems store data will be stated here before the feature launches.
- Special category data. Voice recordings, brainwaves, heart rate and skin conductance are treated as sensitive personal data under UK GDPR.
- Sharing. If you share a session with a practitioner, they can see that session only, through the MindTimbre practitioner portal, until you withdraw access. Live remote monitoring (planned, Practitioner plan) will show your practitioner a session only while it's happening and only while you allow it, and you'll be able to stop it at any time.
- Crash reports are sent only if you agree to share them with app developers in iPhone Settings.
What this website collects
- If you contact us or join the launch list, we keep your name, email and message to reply and to send launch news if you asked for it. Website forms are delivered to us by Formspree (formspree.io), which processes them on our behalf.
- The site uses no tracking cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Use the contact form and choose “Privacy or data request”. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
