MindTimbre Cloud

Your voice and your brainwaves on one timeline.

MindTimbre works entirely on your iPhone. If you choose to, it can also sync to the cloud. Sound data goes to the MindTimbre server. Body signals from your headset (brainwaves, plus heart rate and skin conductance if it records them) go to Mindstreams, a platform built for physiological data. The two are kept apart and joined only when you or your practitioner view a session.

Planned Cloud features are in development and will arrive after the app launches.

MindTimbre on iPhone

Records your voice, plays tones and runs the analysis.

MindTimbre server

Your account, voice prints, recordings if you include them, tone timings, Pattern Lab results, and the private link to your brainwave sessions. Practitioners sign in here.

Mindstreams

Body signals from your device only: brainwaves, and heart rate or skin conductance where your device records them. Stored under random IDs with no name or account details.

Devices such as Muse, BrainBit and Vilistus send their signals to Mindstreams. No sound data is ever stored there.

What the cloud adds

Four things you can't do on one phone

Backup and devices

Keep your voice prints safe if you lose or replace your phone, and open them on an iPad or, later, Android.

Practitioner sharing

Share a session with your practitioner or teacher, and only that session. They view it in the MindTimbre practitioner portal, and you can withdraw access at any time.

Combined sessions

Tone timings and voice prints from MindTimbre are lined up with brainwaves, heart rate and skin conductance from your device, so you can see what was playing when a signal changed.

Dashboards and exports

Compare sessions over weeks, download CSV, or send data to research tools.

Your data, your choice

Off until you turn it on.

Cloud sync is never switched on by default, and MindTimbre works fully without it.

  • Opt-in. Nothing leaves your phone until you turn on sync in Settings.
  • You choose what syncs. Sync analysis results only, or include the audio as well.
  • Body signals kept apart from who you are. Mindstreams stores brainwaves, heart rate and skin conductance under random IDs, with no name, email or account details. The link to you is held only on the MindTimbre server, so these signals can't be traced back to you without access to both systems.
  • Practitioners see only what you share. The MindTimbre server shows a practitioner the sessions of clients who have shared with them, and nothing else.
  • Encrypted in transit and at rest on both systems, with access control and an audit log of who opened what.
  • Delete any time. Tap Delete cloud data in the app and your cloud copy is deleted immediately, from the MindTimbre server and from Mindstreams. The copy on your phone stays.
  • Where data is stored, for both the MindTimbre server and Mindstreams, will be published here before cloud features launch.

Voice recordings, brainwaves, heart rate and skin conductance are sensitive personal data under UK GDPR, and we treat them that way. Read the privacy notice.

Building with physiological data?

Mindstreams offers an SDK and API for streaming and storing brainwaves, heart rate, skin conductance and other body signals in your own products. Find out more at mindstreams.io →
